The Blessing of Intimacy

Jonathan Meo                                                                                            August 29-30, 2026

Introduction

Hebrews 12:2:  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1.  Friendship with God

James 4:4b-5:  Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously.”?

Abraham, Moses, David found friendship with God - have you?

2.  There is Security in Covenant

Ecclesiastes 4:10, 12:  For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.  But woe to him who is alone when he falls,

For he has no one to help him up.  Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.

And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

3.  Our Greatest Joy is His Highest Glory

Romans 5:1–2:  "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God."

2 Corinthians 4:6:  "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ."

Philippians 3:10-14:  I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
