“He Delivered Them From Their Distress” 

Psalm 107:1–32                                        May 16-17, 2026

 God responds to desperate people who cry out to Him. Psalm 107 reveals a repeating pattern of:

• Trouble
• Crying out to God
• Deliverance
• Thanksgiving

1. What repeated phrase appears throughout Psalm 107?

2. What four groups of people are described in the passage?

 I. God Rescues the Lost (vv. 1–9)

 Key Truths

• Sin leads people into spiritual wandering.
• The world cannot satisfy the soul.
• God leads people “by the right way.”
• Testimony matters: “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.”

 Personal Reflection

• Where have I been wandering spiritually?
• What has God rescued me from?
• Am I openly thankful for God’s goodness?

 II. God Frees the Prisoners (vv. 10–16)

 Key Truths

• Rebellion leads to bondage.
• Sin promises freedom but creates chains.
• God hears the cries of broken people.
• God still breaks chains today.

 Personal Reflection

• What chains or strongholds do people commonly struggle with today?
• Is there an area where I need freedom or surrender?
• Have difficult circumstances humbled me and drawn me toward God?

 III. God Heals the Foolish (vv. 17–22)

 Key Truths

• Foolish choices bring painful consequences.
• Sin wounds the soul.
• God’s Word brings healing and restoration.
• Gratitude should follow God’s mercy.

 Personal Reflection

• What lessons has God taught me through past mistakes?
• How has God’s Word brought healing into my life?
• Am I quick to thank God after He restores me?

 IV. God Calms the Storms (vv. 23–32)

 Key Truths

• God remains sovereign even in storms.
• Storms reveal our weakness and dependence.
• God can calm storms or carry us through them.
• Jesus speaks peace into chaos.

 Personal Reflection

• What storm am I facing right now?
• Have I truly cried out to God in the middle of it?
• How has God been faithful to me during difficult seasons?
