What are Community Groups?

Community Groups are small groups of twelve or less that meet weekly in someone’s home or at church. Most of the groups meet Wednesdays at 6:30p or Sundays at 6:30p. They may share the same stage of life or be intergenerational in nature. Their purpose is to provide a predictable environment for authentic community and spiritual growth. The Christ in me is united with the Christ in you. And the Christ in us draws us together.

“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another.” (Hebrews 10 vs. 24-25)

Maturing believers are people who are spending time together, encouraging one another, and supporting one another.

Spiritual maturity is the pursuit of intimacy with God, community with believers, and influence with nonbelievers. A spiritually maturing person is not someone who has simply acquired more truth. A maturing believer is someone who is continuing to grow in these three distinct relationships.

What happens in a Community Group?

Even though all groups are not the same, how groups spend their time is similar. They meet to encourage, equip & challenge one another as they prioritize intentional relationships in their walk with Christ. There is time spent hanging out and connecting with each other, time for discussion and reflection surrounding the group study and time spent in prayer and care for one another. Everyone in the group has an opportunity to grow at their own pace by sharing with and hearing from others in the group.
