The Land of Israel
November 4 & 5, 2023Primary Text: Genesis 12:4-7
This Week’s Teaching:
1) The Land of Canaan
Genesis 12:4-7: So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there. Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
Joshua 1:1, 6-9: After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide…. "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them…. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and Geshurites: from the Shihor River on the east of Egypt to the territory of Ekron on the north, all of it counted as Canaanite (the territory of the five Philistine rulers in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron--that of the Avvites); from the south, all the land of the Canaanites, from Arah of the Sidonians as far as Aphek, the region of the Amorites, the area of the Gebalites; and all Lebanon to the east, from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo Hamath."
DQ 3) Where was Philistia located relative to the Promised Land of the tribes of Israel?
