This Week’s Teaching:
1) Endurance
Hebrews 12:2-3: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
DQ 1) Are some types of weariness good?
DQ 2) Are you weary in your Christian journey? Why?

2) The Tireless One
Isaiah 40:28-30: Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall….
DQ 3) How and why is Jesus the source of true strength and stamina?

3) Heavy Burdens
Matthew 23:2-5: The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. Everything they do is done for men to see….
1 John 5:3-4: This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world.
Psalm 55:22 (NASB): Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
DQ 4) What heavy burdens have others tried to place on you?

4) An Easy Yoke
Isaiah 40:31: …but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Jeremiah 31:25: I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
Matthew 11:28-30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
DQ 5) What makes Jesus’ yoke easy and His burden light?

5) Enduring Goodness
Galatians 6:7-10: Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows…. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
DQ 6) What is “doing good” in the kingdom of God?
DQ 7) How do you need God to lift the burden of weariness and refresh you?
