1)  Truth Personified

John 14:6-7:  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.  If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." 

DQ 1)  Define Truth.

2)  The Father of Lies

John 8:44:  You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.  

DQ 3)  How do we know when something is a lie?

3)  Church Lies

1 John 2:3-6:  We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands.  The man who says, "I know Him," but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  But if anyone obeys His word, God's love is truly made complete in him.  This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did.

This Week’s Teaching: 

1)  Nation Against Nation

Matthew 24:4-8:  Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.  For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many.  You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.  Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.  Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. 

DQ 1)  What signs indicate the world is moving closer to the return of Christ?

2)  Near to the Hurting

Psalm 34:15-22:  The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their cry; the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.  The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; He protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.  Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.  The LORD redeems His servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in Him.  

DQ 2)  How does the Lord prove Himself faithful to those who follow Him when they face hardship and adversity?
