A New Heart

 Primary Text:  Romans 2:28-29           January 16 & 17, 2021

This Week’s Teaching

 1)  Pare Your Hearts

Jeremiah 4:3-4:  This is what the LORD says to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem: "Break up your unplowed ground and do not sow among thorns.  Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, circumcise your hearts, you men of Judah and people of Jerusalem, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done-- burn with no one to quench it.

DQ 1) What does it mean to circumcise your heart?

DQ 2) What are the responsibilities of humans in circumcising

           our hearts?

 2)  God’s Work

Deuteronomy 30:6:  The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.

DQ 3) How does God circumcise our hearts?

DQ 4) Why must our hearts be circumcised so that we may love

 3)  By the Spirit

Romans 2:28-29:  A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.  No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code.  Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

Galatians 3:29:  If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

DQ 5) How does the Spirit circumcise our hearts?
