How to prepare for your audition 

1. Read through the Character Descriptions provided below. Choose 1 or 2 of the characters that you could see yourself playing. Once you have made your selection, go to the Sides (Lines for Scenes) and find a scene with that character in it. This is what you will read for your audition. Read through it many times so that you are very familiar with it and feel comfortable with your delivery.

2. If you are singing for your audition, please select two songs that highlight your vocal ability and range. Please prepare to sing acapella or to play a background track from your personal phone. Bluetooth speakers will not be provided. PLEASE limit your songs to 60 seconds or less.

If you aren’t sure what piece of music to sing, please choose two from this list:

3. You will also have an opportunity to learn some dance choreography from Babble-On! We will make it a fun and easy process and no preparation will be needed!

10 am - 12 pm (ages 10-15)

1 pm - 3 pm (ages 16+)

What to Expect at Auditions:

1. Auditions begin at 5:30pm on Thursday, August 15^th. Please arrive 15 minutes early in the Celebration Church Worship Center lobby. Use the main entrance with the stairs.
2. Please check in at the registration table to get your name tag, audition forms and your audition number. If you are under the age of 18, your parent/guardian will need to sign your audition form. If you could not print out the sides (lines for the scene) you would like to read, please request those at the table as well.
3. After your name has been called you will proceed to the Apex for your audition. You may be asked a few questions about your audition form. When you are ready, we will ask you to read the sides you have selected. If we see that you would be a better fit for a certain character, we may ask you to read a different set of sides. (It might be a good idea to briefly scan over all of the sides online.)
4. After reading your sides, you will be asked to sing your songs (see above directions) and then learn some easy dance choreography.
5. Some roles may require you to come for “call backs” on Saturday, August 17^th at 10:00am.

Character Descriptions:

NEBUCHADNEZZAR - The King of Babylon. Older adult male with a strong presence and tone. He is the embodiment of pride until he is knocked down a few pegs.

DANIEL / BELTESHAZZAR - A young man in his teenage years, toned and physically healthy. Though he starts off meek, he grows in confidence as he grows in his understanding of God’s gifts.

MISHAEL / MESHACH - Daniel’s closest friend and confidant of similar age. He is the more rational and serious of Daniel’s friends.

HANANIAH / SHADRACH - One of Daniel’s friends, Hananiah is flighty and more prone to speaking his mind, even if it’s not what should be said in the moment.

AZARIAH / ABEDNEGO - One of Daniel’s friends, Azariah is a reasonable young man with a tendency to doubt, though his faith is rewarded in time.

ASHPENAZ - The Chief Official in charge of the grand feast that Nebuchadnezzar tasked him to feed to the young Israeli nobles. He learns to love vegetables and trust in Daniel’s wisdom.

MAGICIAN, ENCHANTER, ASTROLOGER, SORCERER - The wise men are one of the primary antagonistic forces working against Daniel, as they believe Daniel has disrespected them and their mystic arts in every moment of his time in Babylon. They conspire to throw him into the lions’ den, not knowing they are sealing their own fates.

ARIOCH - The head guard of Nebuchadnezzar’s throng. He is tasked with the execution of all the wise men, but stays his hand in order to give Daniel more time to come up with the meaning of Nebuchadnezzar’s mysterious dream.

HERALD - The Herald stands by Nebuchadnezzar and assists in announcing the majesty that is the golden statue.

OLD DANIEL / BELTESHAZZAR - Daniel, 50 years later. He wears a cloak and now has a beard. He is more serious now, and grows impatient with those who do not listen to him.

BELSHAZZAR - The king who takes over after Babylon’s death, Belshazzar is the quintessential party boy. He disregards any words of wisdom in favor of having the most fun, and stops at nothing to flirt with his numerous wives, much to the chagrin of the Queen.

QUEEN - Belshazzar’s first wife who grows sick and tired of Belshazzar’s blatant adulterous ways.

DARIUS - Darius the Mede is put in charge by Cyrus the Persian after Belshazzar is executed. He is a decent enough fellow, but puts too much faith in the counsel of his wise men, who trick him into getting Daniel in trouble.

CYRUS - Cyrus the Persian Emperor is a regal, well-spoken older man who eventually makes the proclamation that the Israelites can return to rebuild their temple in Jerusalem… yet still he does not let Daniel return home.

LIONESSES - They are motivated by their hunger, but perhaps even more motivated by their desire to play with their food and make their prey feel fear before they pounce.

CUB - A very cute lion cub who just wants a bite to eat.

ZERUBBABEL - A man in his 30s who is in charge of the voyage back to Jerusalem.

EZRA - An adult male Biblical scholar who seeks to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem.

NEHEMIAH- A man who hopes to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
