This Week’s Teaching

1)  Graceful Conversation

Colossians 4:5-6:  Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.  Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

DQ 1) What is grace-filled conversation?

2)  Be Prepared

1 Peter 3:15-16:  But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

DQ 2) What are the reasons for the hope you personally have in

           Christ?

3)  Unseen Certainty

Ephesians 2:8-9:  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.

Hebrews 11:1-3:  Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  This is what the ancients were commended for.  By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

DQ 3) Is faith personally generated or God-given?

DQ 4) Why is faith itself beyond rational understanding?

4)  The Mystery

Colossians 1:27:  To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Colossians 2:2-4:  My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.  I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.

DQ 5) Explain the mystery of the gospel of Jesus the Christ?

5)  I Am Convinced!

Romans 8:38-39:  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

DQ 6) How do humans really become convinced of the truth of the gospel of Christ?

DQ 7) Are you convinced about Jesus?  Why or why not?
