 Primary Text:  John 3:16-18                           November 14 & 15, 2020

 1)   The World

John 3:16-18:  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

DQ 1) What is the “world” referenced in John 3:16-17?   Why does God love it?

 2)  Every Tribe

Revelation 7:9-14:   After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."…  Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes--who are they, and where did they come from?"  I answered, "Sir, you know."  And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

DQ 2) How does the gospel of Christ transcend all social strata and ethnic groups?

 3)  Every Nation

Acts 2:1-6:  When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.  Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.  They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.  All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.  Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.  When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.

DQ 3) What does Pentecost tell us about God’s love for the world?

 4)  International Disciples

Matthew 28:18-20:   Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

DQ 4) How successful has the church been at fulfilling the “Great Commission”?
