Brokenness

 Primary Text:  Psalm 51:15-17                                 April 10 & 11, 2021

  1)  A Broken Heart

Psalm 51:15-17 (NASB):  O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare Your praise.  For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering.  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.

DQ 1) What does it mean to have a broken spirit?

 3)  Broken By Others

Psalm 69:18-20 (NASB):  Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!  You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor; All my adversaries are before You.  Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick.  And I looked for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none.

DQ 5) How is a broken and contrite heart different from a crushed spirit and wounded heart?
