LET THE HOUSE BE RENOVATED
February 19 & 20, 2022
Introduction: DECONSTRUCTION vs. RENOVATION
Three key questions we must ask ourselves as we explore this topic:
Am I fully yielded to the Holy Spirit in EVERY aspect of my life so that He is free to fulfill all His will in me?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
- What are the areas I am not yielded to the Holy Spirit? - and am I asking the Lord to reveal those areas to me so that I may continue to participate with His renovation in me?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
- Has any spirit of secret self-will, vanity, or pride cut in on me and enticed me to prevent me from yielding to the Lord?

1. A HOUSE FOR THE LORD
1 Peter 2:4-5 - As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Peter 1:18-19 - Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
John 14:23 - Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
2. ENGAGE WITH GOD BY YIELDING TO HIS SPIRIT
Jesus: “This is what I want to do, are you with Me?”
1 Corinthians 3:5-17 - . . . For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work . . . Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? . . .
The Spirit of the Lord has the blueprint plans for our lives. If we are willing and yielded to Him, then He will begin to break down and clean
out those things that are contrary to His design and implement the changes He wants to manifest in the structure of our life.
3. RENOVATION BEGINS AGAIN
2 Timothy 2:20-22 - A large house contains not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay. Some indeed are for honorable use, but others are for common use. So if anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor: sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work. Flee from youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Tearing Down the Old Walls
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 - For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for tearing down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Foothold > Stronghold > Strongman Occupying & Causing Devastation
4. EXPELLING THE TRESPASSERS
Romans 6:12-14 - Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Hebrews 12:1-2 - Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Matthew 12:29 - Or how can someone enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house.
